So the get the new iphone for the low price i guess you will have to sign a new (2 year?)contract. On a special plan for the iphone. Any word from vodafone on this?

US pricing for the iPhone 3G is based on a 2-year contract. Unlimited data plans for iPhone 3G customers will be US$30/month while business users will have to pay US$45/month.

Seriously it was only announced 2 hours ago (at 730am NZ time I might add) and doesn't even launch for a month.

I'm a loyal Vodafone customer, but I'm just saying they MUST have known about this, and even just a placeholder page with a forward publish date should be possible with any basic CMS system.

Any pricing speculation on Voda ??? Also wonder if all the parrarel import place will be clearing out there 2.5G iphone stocks, seriously they cost a fortune.
I'm spoiled on the cheap handsets from U.S... Hope it's not too expensive .

The 3G iPhone looks like a nice bit of hardware, but it looks to be an evolution rather than a revolution whereas I was hoping for something like the HTC Diamond's revolutionary "Wow" compated to the HTC touch.... It also looks like the radio config (UMTS / HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz), GSM / EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) means no 900Mhz UMTS which wil mean users may get 3G coverage issues???

Basically means no 3G coverage outside of main urban areas on VF (2100 for large cities, 900 for rural)

There are always coverage gaps in mobile networks, specially when using 2100mhz as penetration can be challenging. You can check out the online coverage tool where you can search by address and VF will tell you how the coverage is.
