I've just posted an update from the project manager at http://www.vodafone.co.nz/cableupgrades/

There are 15 cable nodes remaining to be worked on as part of our cable upgrades project. The team are working to complete the 15 nodes tomorrow Thursday 1 October, but it may continue to Friday 2 October.

Again, very much appreciate your patience. We're very close now.

I'm not sure if our node's been upgraded or not, but the connection is quite good today - far better than normal. :) Latency's in a nice, consistent spot, and download speeds are good and high.

We'll see how things cooperate tonight when we hit peak hours. At worst, it looks like things should be sorted out at the end of the weekend.

My in-game latency has been good as well. Previously, it used to be 44 ms on a very good day. Today, 44 ms has been the highest latency that I've seen so far! It's generally hovering around the 41-43 ms range. That's an incredibly small and subtle difference, but it's a great sign when things move in the right direction!

@Kodiak It's looking pretty good for me right now too, but it's still early. Fingers crossed.

So normally around this time of the evening, I would be lucky to get ~5Mbps down. Currently getting:

That is still not ideal for peak time but still a little bit of work complete

It's 8 PM. We're near peak hour. Things are continuing to go strong.

Have we finally reached the end of the tunnel? :D

Thanks for that John and I understand that. Do you have any info around what else is left to do apart from nodes that are yet to get cut over?

Oh and if its of any use, I am on the 130/10 plan.

I think that it's a very sad refection on the current state of HFC that anybody should feel grateful to have such poor performance - specially as this is outside the peak traffic period.

Let's hope that Vodafone don't stop trying to fix the mess ...

I am just glad I don't have the wife raging at me and asking why she can't stream anything and why I can't move to another ISP that works. Imagine trying to explain to a non technical minded person why and whats happening to fix it for the last few months.

So would it be reasonable for a user on a 130Mb/s plan on node w40 to achieve 65Mb/s at 9PM after this work is complete?

latency to the cable gateway is also doing some funky things!
