MattD: Just called VFNZ and received the message... "we are unable to answer your call at the moment due to an emergency building evacuation"
djpaubes: So who wants to but my gen 1 iphone going cheap ;)
although thinking about holding onto it. Could we see a price drop for xmas and what about a revised iphone gen 3? Do we hold out for that or a 32gb model which I thought would have been released now... once again a wise marketing move to keep the ipod touch selling...
Also I didnt see anything about a camera upgrade? Or did I miss it.
I'm an existing iPhone owner and I'm not tempted to upgrade in the slightest....
I can already get the Apple 2.0 firmware upgrade if I need it.
The inclusion of 3G isn't going to be much use unless VF decide to bring out a decent data plan which I'd assume they'd probably want to match on their 2.5 network anyway.
I have absolutely no use for GPS.
The browsing speeds aren't slow at the moment.
I would be buying something made mostly of plastic rather than metal.
However I would definitely recommend getting one if you don't already own an iPhone.

old3eyes: I see that the 8Gig version is being sold in the US for $199. I guess that equates to about NZ$799 just like the PS3 and AppleTV..
CraigC:
Optus already has pre-orders open with a $100 deposit. Then you get priority queuing and allowed to purchase 2 hours before everyone else

Now this is a smart move...
Dont worry, we are used to Vodafone NZ being several months behind every other Telco, so wouldnt expect an announcement from them anytime soon....
They have probably only just realised that the Iphone is coming to NZ.
patdude: The 3G iPhone looks like a nice bit of hardware, but it looks to be an evolution rather than a revolution whereas I was hoping for something like the HTC Diamond's revolutionary "Wow" compated to the HTC touch.... It also looks like the radio config (UMTS / HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz), GSM / EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) means no 900Mhz UMTS which wil mean users may get 3G coverage issues???
