jasewgn: I have to say the t-box really frustrates me, I'm on my second t-box now and have all the issues described previously; lock-ups, failed recordings and volume not working are the main problems.

Anyway on a positive note, the other services that I have, phone and internet are excellent and really the only things that havent stopped me leaving.

My advice is steer clear of the T-Box its rubbish! but cable internet is awesome. As others have done it may better to keep your TV separate with another provider and just use the services form TCL that are good (cable internet).

I agree with all those comments. Like others, I regularly become frustated with all the problems that the T/Box throws at us, but don't even bother to report them as I know the answer will be to 'reboot' which I have already done to rectify the problem.

I know this particularly issue has been reported by others and myself, however I taped the cricket last night, which on the EPG guide is in two parts due to the break in the middle. Both recordings taped the Chinese CCTV4 channel.

If only TC could pay for my chinese classes... :(

Very disappointed and I've paid top dollar for this box! I want some credit back TC....!

I'm fairly sure that both TCL and Sky use the same EPG data, and therefore the same Series Link data. I reckon that any MySky users would also have had the wrong channel recorded for this event, too.

I suspect not. A number of T-box users have reported the box recording the wrong channel at various times. The system reports the correct details for what it has recorded, but the program is wrong. Some people have reported recording channels they haven't subscribed to. I'm sure that would be a problem if grandma sat down with the grandkids to watch Bob the Builder and instead got to explain something of a more 'adult' theme.

I've stopped reporting my issues. Mainly it's an issue with the box getting slower over the course of a month, then after a reboot or 5, not displaying any menus. Given enough reboots, it comes right, but it's extremely frustrating.

Gary - you've been silent for a long time. When is the next update coming, and have you a link, or list of issues that it'll fix?

We had another instance last night of the T-Box jumping back to the start of its record buffer while we were watching live TV. This causes a bit of confusion until you figure out what's happened.

Gary: is this issue known to TC? I'm pretty sure others have experienced it and reported it here. Is a fix included in the next update?

Dare I ask when the next update is scheduled for release?

The recording buffer for live TV is only 60minutes... is it possible you went beyond this. Unlike others my T-box has been good lately and I no longer have to reboot regularly. Maybe once a month.

Hi Kharris,

Not sure what you mean by going beyond the recording buffer, but we were just watching live TV. We looked away for a minute and then looked back to discover we were now watching something that we'd already seen. Initially we thought they'd started to screen the wrong part of the program after the ad break, but then I realised that this had happened before and tried to fast forward. That confirmed the problem and I was able to fast forward through the record buffer back to live TV again.

Weird eh?

Sorry, I thought you must have been pausing live TV.

I have never had this happen, but if it happens again you could just press the stop button. This should return you to live TV.

now i am not one to post much on here or complain all that often, but technology these days seems rushed out far to quickly without adequite piloting and testing in a controlled environment, and even then what it is exposed to in the 'real world' by the general user always throws out a few curlys, so i have given the guys a bit of reprieve to find all these bugs and fix them and they shuold just be little user firendly tweaks you know, like oh thats good but this way would be better type of thing, not real issues. but the last week well, it sucked. several recordings have failed, and there have been for what i am aware no conflicts with other recordings, in the morning the kids watch a bit of channel 45 while eating breakfast, well you watch half a of a show, then it changes to another show, which is halfway through, then to a third show, then back in time to catch the end of the origional show. a few weeks back i was watching 'Austrailia' the movie, had about an hour left thought i would just tape it as i wanted to go to bed, next day i get up and well hello i try and watch it and it has taped an hour of CTV, now it says in the planner that it is 'Austrailia' but it most certainly is not. any idea why it is crap all of a sudden, and what the hell is in the upcomming maintenance?

It's not "all of a sudden" It's been junk from day 1 and TCL haven't had the guts to admit it, or the business or technical skill to fix it. Simple. Roll on the VF takeover and we can look forward to customer service from a world class provider.

Tonight I decide to use my T-Box to catch up on a recorded show while a couple of other shows are recording (that's kind of the point of these devices, no?)

Press "ok" to watch selected recording and screen goes black, box doesn't respond to commands from remote or front panel. A couple of minutes later a pretty padlock picture appears "Service Not Available". Internet still works so not a connectivity issue. Re-boot? Well it usually works. Nope. On re-boot and after the usual interminable "Please Wait...Updating" (Please wait until what? Christmas?) I get the delight of a new (to me) message "Service Unavailable, please Try Later"

Yup, I have a PVR so I can watch "now" or when I want, not "later" whenever that might be.

Of course TCL has improved their customer service of late (remember the promises made on TV - that was the half hour when the T-Box was working so we could watch Fair Go). Phone up to report the fault, only an announced 5 minute wait with an actual 10 minute wait. Obviously "overseas" call centre operator asks what the problem is...and half way through my explanation cuts me off. Well it was 9pm and they obviously need to get off home. And now the "Customer Care" (if ever something was inappropriately named) service is closed for the night. Suppose I could always try another re-boot...

So, T-Box still doesn't work. Telstra Clear still has no clue how to deliver customer service.

The real shame about the VF takeover is that the hard working guys at the sharp end (who have to take the flak from annoyed customers like me) will most likely be the ones out on their ears, while the incompetent managers swan their way into cushy spots elsewhere where they can continue to hide behind BS and keep on their ineffective but self-satisfying, ego-boosting "career trajectories"

Rant? Yeah a bit. Sorry but I have never experienced such a Mickey Mouse operation...and I have lived in France for 5 years :-P

Simple solution...tell Telstra very loudly and clearly that TBox is a dog....

Demand a refund... Aggressively attack their company profile...use the media.

Approach Fair Go...use this board to help the programme contact other deeply effected customers...

Set up a Telstra Clear TBox sucks Facebook page...

Sorry Telstra Clear...have been a long and loyal customer love your internet and cable options....but have changed my mind after my year long TBox experience. Your customer service sucks...big time...my worst ever customer experience from any company.

Been on MySky a month...problem free...I'm happy to pay for a system that works.

Did TC end up completing their upgrade on Thursday? Our T-box still has 19 July maintenance message up and the box never died on that day?

It was routine maintenance on the 19th........I didn't notice any changes then. Now I see there's another notification for the same on the 24th (Tuesday).

It was routine maintenance on the 19th........I didn't notice any changes then. Now I see there's another notification for the same on the 24th (Tuesday).

There was some maintenance on the 19th at about 12:30am both my cable modems lost connectivity for about an hour. I had no TV and no internet during that time. Although it was very late so most people would not have noticed.
