It was routine maintenance on the 19th........I didn't notice any changes then. Now I see there's another notification for the same on the 24th (Tuesday).

There was some maintenance on the 19th at about 12:30am both my cable modems lost connectivity for about an hour. I had no TV and no internet during that time. Although it was very late so most people would not have noticed.

Yeah, sorry, I meant I didn't notice any changes when I got up in the morning..........so wasn't sure they did anything that made noticeable differences at the time. I don't stay up quite that late :-) Don't know what I would do with no internet and no TV! Might as well sleep....hehe

I doubt they are upgrading anything you will notice. This is back-end maintenance I think. I wonder when the much promised T-Box update is due. We will have to wait until the Olympics are finished I suspect.

Gonzo12: Simple solution...tell Telstra very loudly and clearly that TBox is a dog....

Set up a Telstra Clear TBox sucks Facebook page...

I've had to reboot several times over the last week. My most common issue is the Tbox menus etc don't display on screen, but the normal TV picture does. This means I can't browse to find recordings, set up recordings or work out what channel I'm on. A reboot (or 5) is required to get things working again.

Gary, please - unless you're no longer watching this forum, please let us know what is going on.

So, I've been rebooting my T-box weekly (practising safe PVR) and for a while all was well. Sure I got the odd spot of pixelation but no biggie. Then, all of a sudden, any new recording would be full of pixelation and stuttering. But, and here's the weird thing, only recordings made with "tuner 2" exhibited this issue. If there were two overlapping recordings then the one using "tuner 3" would be fine. Go figure.

Anyway, rang the help number, tussled with the fembot until I got to a real person who informed me that "your cable modem has been running for 66 days, that is far too long". Picked jaw up from floor, restarted the modem and, no sh*t, I can record again.

Makes no sense to me, but then again nothing about the T-Box makes sense.

New weekly routine:

power cycle cable modem
reboot T-box
make sacrifice of black cockerel in white chalk circle inside pentagram

I look forward to trouble-free viewing....
... Yeah, right!!!

Hi all,

We are reading your posts. Work is progressing on the update and, as mentioned earlier, we’ll update you when we have more news.

If you’re seeing behaviours that are not software issues, please reboot your T-Box and modem and see if this helps. A reboot of both will force the devices to re-establish contact and recalibrate. If you still have problems, please log a fault. Cable customers can do this by calling 300 from their landline and then clearly saying ‘fault’ and then ‘television’.

Ok, so iam over the failed recordings for unknown reasons, and the random changes to the program being watched on a regular basis, how do i get out of this damn T-Box contract, sitting here wishing i had never signed up...

We got out of our contract early with no questions asked. Well actually technically they did ask why we no longer wanted it and I explained because it didn't work and they couldn't argue with that. I am so glad we switched to MySky and we are not paying any more for it but even if we were it would be worth it just to have a reliable product.

Never hasd any major issues with the T-Box bit slow changing channels after first turning on but after last update a several days ago now no probs I always delete what I have recorded after watching.

Well, after some time with a fairly stable T-Box (just the odd pixelation) we had our replaced (again) today. Now, this time it was not TelstraClear's fault. When that was that big lightening book in Lower Hutt a few weeks ago, our HDMI connection stopped working. Because we had a lot of stuff on the T-Box that we wanted to get through, we just swapped over to a component connection. Pretty much, I decided that with the Olympics, and the 3 months of free HD ticket, it was time to get a new T-Box. The one we had was working, to all intents and purposes, just fine, but we had to replace it to get HDMI working.

I rang the support number, explained our issue, and was offered a tech as early as the next business day. I wasn't sure we could be available in the time slot available that day, so went for the next day (today). I was offered any of 3 time slots including an 8;30am - 9:30am option. I took that one. I got the phone call saying the tech would be onsite in an hour, and he did arrive, replaced the box, went through configuring it, and was able to leave by 9;30am.

I have to say I was very impressed with the support I received this time, from the initial phone call, all the way through to the tech who arrived, and how thorough he was in making sure everything was working.

More pixelation etc - only rebooted about 3 days ago. When I did, I was recording Grand Designs. After the reboot I had to delete the existong failed recording and start off a new one, however when I tried to play the new recording of Grand Designs, nothing happened. I could play other recordings, but not this one. No information as to why it wouldn't play.

Looking forward to the eminent update that will make everything right! Now for a cold Tui...

Tempting, though the warranty would be void.
I was asking people to post serial numbers and any other details, however there didn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to the issues people have.

Yes - I am fully aware of that but since when has rules ever stopped the curious investigating and I am sure there are a lot of curious people here. Unfortunately I don't have the money to break them in this case nor would I want to as mine is a fully functioning T-box that has never missed a beat.
