I am currently living in shared accommodation which provides WiFi access to the internet.

There is a variety of options available, 4/60/80/150GB per month to unlimited.

Speedtest shows performance as:-

Ping - 6ms, Download 24.8 Mbps, Upload 16.9 Mbps

My question is, "Would any of the 4G services currently available better that performance?".

in theory yes, 4g will be faster but likely to have slightly more lag (or not). also if the wifi is shared between your housemates it will most definitely be worse than 4g.

how much is the wifi going to cost?

compare it with skinny broadband?

80GB is $40 per month

150GB is $60

Unlimited is $80

Unlimited on Skinny is apparently $73. But just how much increase in speed could I expect?

Skinny unlimited for $73 is fixed line, not wireless.

Depends what you use it for. If you need unlimited data, then it's not a bad deal, as long as the latency doesn't tank when others use it. OTOH, if up to 240GB is OK, then a Skinny plan may be better.

Either way, expect some fluctuation as to performance - both are using radio spectrum which is a shared resource, so performance will vary with usage patterns.
