waijo355: Thanks Wellygary,

Would the point to point wifi set up be required should I not get wifi reception from the neighbours house? (as our houses are too far away from each other?)

Yip, It will allow you to span the distance between houses (and help keep the connection speed up), you connect the P2P (Point to Point) station at their end into their ADSL modem by cable, and then do the same at your end, connecting it to your regular wifi gear,

Not a completely stupid idea.  I run a (not very long) ethernet cable to my neighbour for internet -- they can get TelstraClear cable, we can't.

I'm told normal ethernet cable should last outdoors for a few years so for a short-term solution it's not worth buying the fancy outdoor stuff.

A dude from wanna.net.nz (waikato provider), seems to think he can solve the solution (dunno how), from looking at the property on google maps. Hes guna look at the property on friday to see whats up.

Thanks for the ideas, i may have to implement them should he fail.

cheers
