Hi All, yes there are many USB-Modems/Sticks available which plug into a third-party Router.

Ours have a 3.75G UMTS/HSPA+ Embedded Modem/Module In-Built, just insert the 2D-Sim Card,

Also they have an SMA-connector Externally mounted to permit the connection of a high-gain GSM antennae.

We hire out a DIY package for week-end sporting events or for emergency situations like yours.

VOIP, Fax, Eftpos operation is possible.

Toastiewarm:To answer your question re construction offices

For our site offices (I work in construction) for short term (say 3-4months) we have Netcomm routers (3G/4G) which have simcard slots directly into them and they also have a WAN port I... ...slower to our VPN (which is in Aussie) than if using say home adsl connections so makes downloading data from central storage difficult indeed.

I hope you arent the ones moveing into the new building in Waghorne st, (just along from the old part of the Crown Hotel), with all the coms ducts etc ended up against the outside of the glass windows instead of into the building?

Yes, that's the building. Hadn't noticed any external comms ducting. Will have a closer look in the morning now! - you obviously have some concerns?

When I was over that way (Im in Palmerston North) a week or two ago I noticed the builiding was near the end of 2nd fitout (faceplates on etc) and what apeared to be ducts for both power and coms where laid up to the building (with temp 90deg bends and 1m of pipe extensions on the ends) but they ended on the outside of the building up against the full glass windows instead of on the inside. This was just about opersite Valcan Lane. The Pit (actually a handhold - round green lid) over the UFB ducting was semi-covered by asphalt

Hi guys,

I wanted to ask for some help there, as I'm stuck in a similar scenario.

As crazy as it is, I'm the director of a youth organization in the Piako District.

Because our team is continually on the move, we don't want to waste getting an ADSL connection for our office when we're hardly there.

What could you guys recommend? Our office is based in a town area, we get pretty good 3G coverage in our area on all mobile providers, but we are continually traveling to and from Hamilton, plus other areas such as Tauranga, and therefore wireless connections prove vital to our organization.

I've currently just been on a 3GB mobile wireless shared plan with my team for the current time as we're all on mobiles, but we're always easily chewing through that and requiring more, and it's majorly affecting our budget.

Please help, what can you guys recommend?

Do you know if any provider has better coverage in the areas you go than the others? If one carrier has much better coverage then you should look at their offers, as all the data in the world is no good if you can't use it.

Our best coverage happens to be the 2degrees Mobile Network, as in both cities they have a great scale of broadcasting towers, plus they seem to have the fastest speeds in the areas for mobile broadband.

Just to close the loop on this. We ended up using Wifi.

Local ISP NOW were brilliant, within a couple of days they had sent out a tech to survey the site, established they could get line of site to one of their Wifi antennae on Napier hill, installed a temporary Wifi unit on the roof of the building, ran temporary cabling down the side of the building and patched it into our patch panel.

They even configured their router to match our old configuration, so we could just plug everything in after our move, and everything just worked.

The Fibre connection is now scheduled to go ahead later this week.
