How much of an issue will Sky Movies (Channel 30) be for me with a 548.200MHz wireless kit? Is it a big enough gap away from it, or is this too close?

Given Sky shut down their analog channels in 2011 its hardly any issue

Except Channel 30 is now a DTV channel for Igloo transmitting from Remuera.

Wikipedia says Channel 30 that they use is 546Mhz:

So DTV Ch 30 goes from 542 - 550 MHz, 546 MHz is the centre frequency of the DTV channel.

Also 182.075 MHz is only available until 2019, when the VHF radio mics general user radio licences are sunsetted.

This is what analogue TV broadcast signal use to look like.

There was plenty of white space in the TV bands

This is what digital TV broadcast signals look like.

As you can see the entire 8MHz block is used. The spectrum in your area could look like this because you have the infill transmitter signals from Remuera and the main transmitter signals from Waiatarua.

Where are you looking to use the mic. Indoors or outdoors?

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

Oh, what is going to happen to those frequencies then?

Even so, use until 2019 could be ok and long enough for me.

Thank you! Very informative (though sad :-/ ) post, clarified a lot for me :)

And I'd be using these mics both indoors and outdoors.

Anyway, sounds like I'll have to unfortunately pony up the extra buckets of gold to get Lectrosonics 200 series instead :-/ As anything older seems to too often carry too greater risks of not working.
