Martin_NZ: I use a warehouse Sim At $12 for 1.25Gb
I've been looking for an alternate network but none have data only packs at anywhere close to this price. I never use txt or calls on this device. Data only.
Warehousemobile - $12 per 31days for 1.25GB ($144/yr)
2Degrees - $19 per 31 days for 1.25GB and 200 minutes and unlimited texts ($228/yr)
Spark - $19 per 28 days for 1.25GB and 200 minutes and unlimited texts ($247/yr)
Skinny - $16 per 28 days for 1.25GB and 200 minutes and unlimited texts ($208/yr)
Vodafone - $16 per 28 days for 1.25GB and 50 minutes and 50 texts with myflex ($208/yr)
Presumably 2Degrees will give you the same performance problems as Warehousemobile, so not worth changing to them. Spark is the dearest, so forget them. That leaves Vodafone or Skinny (Spark network) at exactly the same price. Skinny offers more for the same money, but you don't really care about the minutes or the texts so that isn't relevant. I'd suggest you pick based on which network you prefer (what is the work phone on?), going with Skinny if you like the Spark network or with Vodafone. It will of course cost you $208 per year instead of $144 per year, but presumably will give you better performance on the data speed and reliability.

Using the yearly option on Kogan mobile, unlimited talk (nz and Aussie), unlimited texts, 1.5GB of data for $13.40 per month using the vodafone network.

Interesting option!
Paying $163.03 for 365 days up front makes it cheaper than all but WM. 1.5GB/30 days is more data too, but NO rollover - which could make it worse for some, but if it works for you then it is a pretty decent deal. Definitely $163.03 is cheaper than $208, so it does undercut Skinny & Vodafone.
If the price for each plan was the same then I'd personally prefer 1.25GB per 28 days with rollover because my usage isn't 100% even month after month. I use less mostly but use more data during my holidays. Then again, I do get buy on a $4 pack per 31 days which is only 500MB per 31 days - I probably wouldn't run out of data with 1.5GB / 30 days.
The medium option is also interesting. At $256.72 for 365 days it isn't all that much dearer than what Spark costs on the 1.25/28 days plan, but it gives you 4GB per 30 days (again, with no rollover) which could be pretty tempting for some people.
With all plans offering unlimited texts and unlimited calls, they offer something that no other plan does.
The data is provides as 1.5GB valid for 30 days, then after that 30 days there is another 1.5GB which lasts the next 30 days. This means that you could be fine for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd month, but then use up all the 1.5GB in 27 days on the 4th month - the fact that you used less than 0.5GB each of the first 3 months wouldn't help you, your data would just stop! BUT - you could at that point just pay $4.90 for a 300MB bundle to get you through the next 3 days and the plan is still a good deal if you don't have to do that each month. If you only ran out one time and needed to buy a little more data that one month then you are looking at $163.03 + $4.90 = $167.93 for the year, still better than all but WM.
