I was walking past a tower today, and was wondering how they managed to actually set the radios on fire? Seems like it would be quite difficult.

Molotov cocktail has been banded around - seems plausible too. Interesting that they didn’t attack the Spark tower, but did set the comms box that fed it alight - maybe they ran out of bottles?

Occam's Razor suggests the tower top fires were started by electrical faults or weather damage. I can't see these anti 5G moonbats climbing up those towers.

The original linked photo showed severe damage just below the top of the mast but little damage at the very top or below. If the fire was started by an external accelerant I would have thought it would have dripped down and the top to have more burn damage.

If it was molotov cocktails the thrower would be a starter for any cricket or softball team.

Here's the tower in question , there were a bunch of locals unhappy when it went in....
https://crux.org.nz/crux-news/outcry-in-upper-clutha-over-eyesore-12-metre-plus-cell-towers

I suspect they pried off the ground level inspection hatch and dumped in a Molotov or similar type accelerant

, the plastic sheathing on the cables running up the inside of the tower would have caught alight and carried the flame up ... some cables might have been able to ignite the exterior panels,  other may not have, hence the variability in damage up  high...

EDIT: its also now quite clear that the smooth surround is highly likely to be a plastic cover,  hence its flammability

They attack whatever not caring which telco, tech, purpose of gear, etc. Reminds me of the spate of tower damages around 2020 -- lots of anti-5G stuff going on but I did note with amusement they mostly burnt down towers without 5G only to have the telco rebuild with 5G gear. But sady I know of cases where isolated RCG towers have been damaged in protest of 5G removing coverage from communities that don't have reliable alternate comms -- and these as we know don't have 5G (yet) showing the level of ignorance involved. Just mindless vandalism IMHO.

Unless it's an open tube at the top, that won't work. The inside top will fill up with by-products of combustion and will no longer hold a flame. Try lighting your home fire with a bird's nest in the top - it won't.

As for throwing a Molotov, first time and nailed it? That'd be very impressive.

Molotov cocktail to the tower top is implausible. Those towers are high and hitting one with a throw would require a world class throwing arm and a lot of attempts with a lot of other fires from all the misses.

Setting fire to the ground level structures is quite feasible. I could believe some nutter would have done those ones.

Are there no requirements for cable sheathing to be self exstinguishing? Just put a sign at the bottom saying "Light fuse here."

As the owner of a motorbike that goes vrooom, I feel we need to convince these people that the problem is speed cameras, not 5g towers..

I have fond memories of a UK website in the early 2000's that catalogued the hundreds of UK speed cameras that had been burnt, bombed, shot up etc.

I mean they use radar which is much worse than 5G. All those people driving past getting covid rays from them for no reason.

In my opinion, Clay Drummond, from the Facebook link above was the one who spread misinformation on these particular cell sites that were destroyed by doing his highly scientific EMF readings and posting how dangerous these towers are should be held accountable here for the destruction of said cell sites.

From his own Facebook post:

About a year ago, when I was passing through Wanaka/Queenstown, I filmed two cell towers in Wanaka and recorded their EMF readings. Last night, those exact towers were either torched or malfunctioned and completely destroyed. Police are on scene investigating, but the media is silent.

I don’t condone arson or violence.

And yet, he's in a roundabout way he is encouraging the cookers to essentially do the bidding for him.

Stochastic terrorism. This is what's called encouraging other people using weasel words and pretending not to be influencing the outcome.

And I agree. My opinion is that this person is inciting these activities. And should be prosecuted.

Sounds like the “anti-5g spaghetti and chips brigade” struck Wanaka again last night….the who, what, when and how still unknown at this time…

The difference between electromagnetic & ionizing radiation must still elude them….

you will never convince them, it’s the same as chemtrails, anti vaxx, flat earth. They don’t trust science but have total trust in Bob or Mary on the interwebs brought to them by 5G

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
