FlatButt: tbh I suspect the deal with 2degrees limits what they can do to reduce the chances of 2D losing customers to WM.

This is going to flop hard - there cannot be any sort of market out there that wants to spend $10 a month and lose it if they don't use it. People rage enough as it is that Spark's prepaid packs don't have carryover like 2D and VF...

Spark's Skinny now has carry over data . I was tempted to swop but like my free WiFi and Social data too much,

This $10 per month deal suits my old folks who have been considering ditching their Landline, currently paying $50-$60 per month. So $10 per month will get them 250mins of national calls which should be more than enough for them.

If you can find a spare Panasonic DECT cordless phone with the GSM base KX TW501 that would make near a landline for the ( oldies )
they appear on trade me from time to time ex Vodas Wireless Homeline

I don't really see how a service targeted at the low ARPU segment can be profitable. It costs a lot of money to provide the billing infrastructure and the support staff to help grandma when she forgets how to charge her phone or the whining teenager whose SMS didn't get through to her boyfriend, and all that for people who are going to spend around $10 a month? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I also dont know how $120 a year vs $10 on skinny is cheaper, but they seem to get away with that too.

So how is $120 to keep a phone alive able to make outgoing calls and SMS cheaper than $5?

Is that a calender year or 360 days as I saw recently in a Vodafone junk mail ad for their prepay SIMs??
