More focussed signal in one area, as opposed to a slightly less strong signal in a 360° range?

Interestingly 2degrees doesn't show this site on their network status page (but they do show 2 others not including scheduled outages). But I rather suspect they are affected too if both Vodafone and Spark are affected. Probably some fault with the shared backhaul connection?

Coverage still not listed on any carrier's coverage page (but I suspect it's not far away)...

Awesome! Although I just checked all the providers maps and there's nothing showing there yet :(

@quickymart Carries only update coverage map about only once every 4 weeks sometimes longer

John

Must be "longer" John...still not seeing any coverage yet :(

Still no update.

@Linux John - question for you. How do the carriers "measure" coverage for the map? Does someone physically go there and walk around with the phone and see what the signal is like then report back, or is the map a "best guess" estimate?

Drive test data and prediction where drive test can't be done

Update: 2degrees have finally updated their coverage map and it shows the coverage for Haast. The footprint seems a little smaller than I was expecting - where is the cellsite located? Right in the town, or on one of the surrounding hills?

@quickymart I am not surprised the map shows a smaller coverage foot print this saves people complaining that the coverage does not reach where it's showing on the map!

As told before coverage maps are a guideline only and not gospel

It's only 2100mhz too - much smaller footprint than 850/900mhz

There was the odd remark that it was just a enterprise version of the sure signal strapped to a pole...

I imagine when they expand the signal (I'm sure I saw Jacksons Bay mentioned somewhere) they could put a site on the hill and cover the surrounding areas too.
