I'm after a SIP provider that can get me a 1800 number in Australia. I need to transition a 1800 number off from an existing provider onto this new provider, then get it over a SIP trunk which I will terminate on an Asterisk PBX.

I already approached Faktortel but they want $140 AUD for porting, a $50 account establishment fee plus a $30 monthly (all of which seem somewhat steep compared to what NZ providers charge).

Are there any cheaper alternatives out there that aren't dodgy? I'm interested in personal experiences from people who have this sort of set-up.

2talk will do a 1800 for AUD$10/month plus porting.

I
haven't used their Aus TF service personally, but I have no reason to believe it isn't much the same as their NZ TF service (which I have).

I don't want to offer any recommendations for services but that porting cost is in line with other players I've looked at in the past.
