The Android version is horrible. I found it forced an upgrade on me about a month ago and I immediately stopped using it. Looks look a job to keep some design student in employment.

I tried Skype Lite instead. Much better and looks very close to the proper Skype.

All good unless the person doesn't use Hangouts :(

Older HW with 3G ram.. 98% CPU when you load it.

Remove, reinstall.. same again

Find a link for the old non desktop app 'classic' version.. Issue be gone. Just lots of 'we think you should update!' nags.

It's one of those services / products that was innovative (P2P routing in the early days), then Microsoft, probably for some reasons that we'll never know centralised it and now would rather not have to support it at all.

Latest version UI is god awful, cant find what I want and if I hit close, it usually kills the app completely instead of leaving it running in the background as it use to. 

I hate the new Skype. I mean, seriously hate it. I don't use it a hell of a lot, but I have about 6 people I communicate semi-regularly with. Some have switched to messenger which I don't want to support, but it works surprisingly well. I have asked the others if they have an alternative platform. If I can find another common platform, I am gone. 

I don't understand what MS is thinking or what focus groups they are consulting about UI developments in their products. It's been going on 5 years. I can't recall the last bit of MS Software I thought was an improvement UI wise from the one before it. Sure, you can get used to it.

I want my UI enhancements to make my life easier, stuff easier to find and LESS CLICKS. There should be golden rule in all UI development (I know companies who are actually like this) where anything that changes and requires more clicks has to be passed to a committee for usability.

The whole idea of Skype having "status updates" and making it hard to not have people from your contact book showing up is stupid.

I just want to see my Skype contacts, no one else, I don't need to communicate by voice with everyone in my Outlook contacts.

Isn't this what Microsoft does? Didn't they do the same thing with Hotmail and other innovative services they slurped up? Yet it doesn't seem limited to them. I am also having similar issues with Google, particularly YouTube. They just can't seem to leave something that works perfectly well alone.

Back to Microsoft: Suddenly I have been getting BSOD seizures on my desktop. Never had a problem before. Removed a couple of recent Windows updates and the problem seems to be solved. Don't they check these things before they release them? This kind of thing is why I tend to be very wary of updates in general. You are constantly being pushed to accept them, but in my experience they more often make things worse by removing functionality and introducing new errors.

Definitely do not install the "preview" optional updates they put out the month before - they often cause BSODs.  And driver updates can be really bad - somehow Microsoft seems able to install drivers that are not compatible with my hardware and makes things completely stop working.

The other thing that frequently causes BSODs for me is overheating when I have forgotten to clean my PC fans - but usually that happens in summer, not at mid-winter.

Try Zoom.

We have been using for sometime and it is great. The only problems is the free version is limited to 40 minutes and also i think the number of participants.
