Hi everyone,

Can someone in the know help me.

What I want to do is have a Voip phone number.

When someone calls I would like it to ring the office phone (Linksys phone or ATA) and a softphone on my Mobile ( Nokia E71 WiFI ) at the same time as long as I am in range and logged on to the internet from my phone.

2Talk seem to be able to offer this but I am not 100% sure.

IT Telenet may also be able to do this as well.

Like everything else price is an issue, having flexability is what I want.

In the future I would probably look at a VoIP PABX or Asterix appliance, they can do this sort of thing out of the box

Any help / sugestions accepted.

Yes, 2Talk can do this.

We have a Zultys VOIP system and it does this or any number of phones you may care to allocate.

Probably not the solution you were looking for, but it is worth noting that Skype can do this for you.

2Talk can definitely do this using their "2Talk One Number" option which means all phones logged into 2Talk will ring simultaneously.

The setup is really simple, the first phone you use the normal settings such as login = 03281xxx, the second phone the login is 03281xxx-1, the third phone is 03281xxx-2

The maximum number of phones or devices you can have is 6 including the primary one

And you also need to "tick" the One Number Option on the 2Talk User Options Web Page.

That is spectacular. Thanks for your replies.
The down side of VOIP ( that I redicovered today as Xnet went down AGAIN ) you loose internet you loose your phones.
I have heard of people using VoiP over the 3G network as it is cheaper than making calls by the normal GSM channels.
Sounds like it might be some fun.

voip over 3g is ok when you are not moving. Once driving then its hopeless.

Same vulnerability with analogue, someone puts a spade through the lines you are up the creek thing without the paddle thing.

Backup internet connections/call divert on unreachable helps keep you contactable in the event of an outage

Yes you lose the ability to pick up your phone when it rings, but everything else still works. Ie the answer service, diverts, one number, and remote dial in etc.
So all is not lost.

I question most peoples demands for a 100% reliable landline. Most people I know will just call a mobile if its importeant.

Besides, adsl seems to be fine - I have a PPP uptime of 939:24:18 and thats because I was swapping UPS's around to had to unplug the netgear.
