This is obvoiusly a problem with all the computers and headsets?
Has anyone thought about having some sort of external ringer to be able to hear incoming call even the headset is connected.
I am making VoIP handsets using Nokia HSU-3 Privacy Headsets and they have magnetic relay on the hook base. It may be possible to just answer the call by lifting the headset?

External USB ringer.
That maybe the answer but it also needs some software drivers. Maybe it already exists? Google search did not come up with answers.
Other way may be adapter between headphone output and headset plug but this would be more difficult to design as any music or sound  from the headphone output may trigger the alarm.
