I had a look on their website, but it's huge and is pretty bad. The only subscription I can find gives you a package of minutes for between about $1 and $10 per month, but doesn't say if it includes an online number.

I might just give up and use my cell.

if you are using a phone with wifi connection, u can always get a sip client, and set up 2talk or other voip on your cell phone
so you can switch between ur cell and 2talk
use 2talk when u are within wifi range

well that is what I am doing with my 2talk account at the moment

I can't work out the pricing either.

I pay a year in advance but they say you get a 15% discount for that on UKP5.74/month and there's no details about getting the online number included so I'm guessing that's extra. Looks like I'm a lucky guy who's getting the pricing as it was when I first started this subscription a few years back and looks like I'm paying about a quarter what it would be now unless I'm not reading it right. I do remember at the time it wasn't very clear though and even though I don't think they advertised the online number being included it was so you never know it may be now too.

I don't want to go too far through the subscription purchase process on my account as I don't want to somehow mess up the deal I have now but it's maybe worth building a subscription and seeing how much it comes too but just not purchasing it.

Good idea, but I don't have a phone with wifi. I prefer cheap little phones, and I have an iPod Touch. I might get an iPhone 5G, or an iPad, or a 7in android tablet... or I might not.

Yeah don't mess with your deal, it sounds pretty great.

My old 2G touch doesn't have a microphone or camera... other than that i'm sure it'd work great ;) I'll get a 4G or 5G some time, and i'll probably still use my phone, since, well, it's made for talking to people!

Hmmm, interesting, didn't know you could do that. Still, it's not something i'll bother with right now, but it's great to know it can be done :)

From Skype:

Please note that, free Online Numbers are no longer available with our Unlimited Subscription plans. However, it is still possible to purchase an Online Number at a discounted price once you have signed up for a subscription. Just make sure you purchase your subscription first and you will receive a 33% discount on your Online Number with a 3 month subscription, and 50% when you sign up for a 12 month subscription.

(from me)

Subscriptions are available from about $1.50/month, so virtually nothing. The discount takes the price down to $5/month if you pay for a year in advance. That's pretty cheap!

I believe you can get a skype app on your ipod touch. That with an unlimited subscription and an online number and you should be sorted?

I don't need Skype on my iPod Touch, i'm looking to replace my home phone, which needs to service multiple people. I'm also looking to do away with monthly fees, but $5/month with a subscription is so low it's as good as free. The issue is needing either yet another box to get Skype working with a cordless phone, or buying a Skype phone.

Like I said I might just not bother with a home line. It's so rarely used, and people can call me cell.
