cisconz: Who did you contact?

I have had 4 Dealer accounts in various jobs, never had an issue.

I don't recall sorry.

It was early on in my journey when I thought this would be a fairly straight forward exercise... I was quite wrong about that. :)

I didn't really try very hard to follow it up to be honest.

I was quite keen to have both on the books because each has benefits:

2Talk - features - cost
VFX - reliability, support, ease of set up, 111 address support

That's basically how I see it adding up anyway.

When VoIP goes down, there is no guarantee that any helpdesk support will be able to get it back again if something is out of their control (or just not visible to them). This means they should sell you a POTS line with the ADSL and an ATA or modem that fails over to the "FXO" phone port when the internet dies.

Time to find a new industry!

That's a very expensive solution and not one that I would consider.

I have fail over to my mobile (which costs me nothing extra unless I actually have to use it).

For only 3 phones he is probably going to be on Naked DSL, so getting a landline with it costs little extra. A business normally can't afford to lose voice services even though they may be on a "best efforts" internet connection, and landlines often (but not always) stay up when ADSL goes offline. Most ISPs have a bundled landline service that does exactly this.

If the connection is to be fibre then I would say thats more reliable so the extra money should be spent on battery backups, serious firewall, good network equipment, and for backup probably mobile diversions or other mobile/wireless solution. Of course you would need to weigh up costs and benefits.

Time to find a new industry!

I agree with Webwat on that last bit 100%

The rest I disagree.

If you've got 3 lines then spend your extra cash on decent mobile phones with a good sip client on them and have a spare $Competitors Sim card in the draw so you can get some data if you need it, unless you're in a area that has very poor data coverage (at which point I'm starting to agree more with WW).

I wouldn't waste your money on battery systems, they fail, you never check them and when you really need them is when you learn you didn't keep them sorted.

Where as putting all this on your mobile, you know the condition of it, and you can charge it in your car even when the power in the building is toast.

The cash you save on all those bits WW suggested, you put into your mobile.

Also, the benefit of VoIP is that you can just move the numbers around where every you want them. So if you need to set up office at the bosses house for 6 months (why you would ever need to... pffft like I know), but you can.

In my view, we need to stop using the PSTN and get focused on moving forward. Make VoIP reliable.

I have put this answer that the OP has asked in another thread before but I will put it here again now. Being a person that has used both VFX and 2talk. I have found both systems very reliable. In the end I chose 2talk because of value for money. I agree that if your internet goes down then you do lose your phone line and it can happen. I was with an ISP a while ago who decided to change how people logged into their naked DSL service one weekend and they didnt tell us. We were without the internet and of course phone services for the whole weekend. So my advice is its all up to your preference. Both 2talk and VFX are reliable you just have to decide which one best suits your needs. 2talk on their 2talk+ platform now have a automatic send calls to another phone number like a mobile if say your internet or whatever does go down.

You can setup Call Forward on Unreachable (with VFX, can't remember the 2Talk equivalent) meaning if your internet goes down, and your device can't register, your calls will be forwarded to another number (or even your mobile)

If the provider goes down or has issues (which is rare), unfortunately not much you can do there.
