Recently noticed that the system is using 491GB of space - from memory it used to use around 20GB.

All seems to be working normally - although I did turn off duplication on some of the folders recently to free up some space. Could this be the cause and is it a concern.

Reinstalled system around 6 months ago.

System is not only the OS, but also all the pointers to duplicated content, etc... Although I have to say 491 GB is a bit too much. Do you have many duplicated folders/files?

"System" is the total size of the system partition, plus orphaned files, plus the backup database duplicated... Make sure you leave the Windows Home Server running on the schedule cleanup cycle and it should manage this automatically.

Problem solved - I think

Looking back at things, I think the issue first arose when I turned off duplication on a couple of large folders to free up some space. I've now added a new storage drive and, after turning back on duplication and letting the system do its stuff, am back to 20GB used by the system.
