freitasm: The restore partition is usually activated at boot time - either you press ESC or a function key to get to the boot menu and select it.
It's a good idea to ALWAYS create a set of recovery DVD or USB key from this partition, in case you need to replace the HDD. There is a program in the Start Menu or in Control Panel (depending on manufacturer) for this.
It's also a good idea to have backup of your data because if you do have to perform a restore, most of the time it completely erases the HDD before restoring it to factory settings.
