Okey doke

Windows 8
Hyper V installed and working (MS VPC replacement)

About half the time when i start my pc the net is inaccessible, when i run the troubleshooting doohickey it tells me there may be a problem with my hyper v ethernet adaptor (thats the virtual one) when i click try repairs as an administrator it can't do it.

However If I then disable the hyper V ethernet adaptor, then run the troubleshooter it tells me that the hyper v ethernet adaptor is disabled if I then try repairs as an administrator it re-enables the adaptor and lo and behold the internet is working again.

Note this is me trying to access the net in the course of everyday usage NOT using a virtual machine.

Short of removing Hyper V, anyone have any suggestions to solve this

Do you have an IP conflict perhaps?

Dumb question, but when you set up the virtual switch in hyper-v, Did you tick the box to allow host communication on the same adapter?

Try Vultr using this link and get us both some credit:

is this over wireless? i've found that if a hyper-v guest configured with the wireless adapter starts at boot time, i sometimes don't have network access from the host, but do have access from within the guest. if i start the hyper-v guest manually i never have the problem. I never see this issue with wired connection either.

Ok

No idea if there is an ip conflict, wouldn't it give me an error to that effect though?

The hardware involved is the computers builtin ethernet adaptor which is connected by cable to the router/modem

No idea if i ticked " the box to allow host communication on the same adapter?", i followed a tutorial online to get it set up.

However when i look through settings for my Virtual adaptor I see

Would that be the issue?

edit --------------- Hmmm that image is hard to read

Hope this works a bit better

Imho Windows 8 is driver challenged for some. Microsoft are generously providing their own modified drivers for hardware which lacks Windows 8 drivers. If the card is built in see if your motherboard manufacturer is providing a Windows 8 driver for that model. 2nd, see if you can get the latest from Realtek. What is your motherboard btw?
