I've done the usual Google expedition to try and work out what this device is? The name indicates it is some form of USB over IP but searches lead to the Nintendo Wii device.

Laptop is a Vaio Pro ultrabook running Win 8 (shipped).

Thanks, that returns usable links when searching, now I'll have to keep my eye out for compatible devices, possibly an alternative to looking for a Bluetooth mouse.

In my opinion*, getting a logitech or genius wireless mouse with a nano receiver will be less of a battery drain than enabling the bluetooth radio on your laptop.

*based on very little research other than with my own laptops.

Trying to preserve my limited USB ports. If I were to use a dongle solution, I would probably opt for the Arc Mouse as this is a travel solution.

Logitech Unifying range can link/sync with 6 Unifying devices - like single nano transceiver to control a mouse, keyboard, trackpad, another keyboard etc.

I only want a mouse. This is a travel solution and not a desktop solution. Ironically the MS5000 is extremely flakey on Win 8 and that is what has triggered my search. Searching for "Wireless USB Mouse" does not return any devices that support Wireless USB, hence falling back to BlueTooth.

somewhat a mute point as the Bluetooth on my Vaio is so monumentally unreliable I'm having to use a dongle mouse.
