Ordered a Surface Pro 2 256 GB at NL in Jan i think (may have been start of Feb). Was promised the tablet would be here for late Feb, but that date passed and still no ETA.

Very poor by the suppliers.

I know its not the stores fault, but seriously looking at getting a refund on the table. Also purchased a type cover, screen protector and material casing with the tablet due to the promise made.

Anyone else in this situation or does anyone know when the stock should arrive?

I dont like the idea of NL holding a lot of my money for such a long time, not to mention that the extras are there and NL says that if I dont pick the extras up soon, they will keep them and not refund me the money for them.

So I am basically forced here to demand a refund on the whole lot....

Not the first story I have read about similar scenario but I think the last one I read had someone at NL being told that they didn't have 2s, tried to have a 1 sold to him but he put an order on a 2 with no ETA and then got a phone call the next day to say it was there for him or something?? Can't recall details but what's going on.

We are looking for some for work and though we have seen a few available, they seem thin on the ground.

The bigger issue is that the docking station seems to be unavailable, not just here but in the States as well, with no firm understanding as to when or even if it will be here.

Lack of a dock will be the reason we will end up having to go with the Dell equivalent - these are not going to work as a unified desktop/laptop/tablet replacement without one!

The Dock is available in USA/Canada/Japan

I know of customers parallel importing them, and partners parallel importing them to resell

There is no NZ date for the launch of the Dock

Having said that the Dell Venue Pro 11 is an awesome machine, I'm typing this on the 4G model of that Tablet right now

Personally I prefer the Surface Dock, but the Dell is an awesome device too.  So is the Lenovo Helix

My other favourite device at the moment is the HP ElitePad 1000 G2 which is the new 64bit Baytrail device with 4GB of RAM and 4G LTE builtin

Nathan, what's the delay with the docks hitting NZ? I have a couple on pre order at NL, and the early 2014 availability originally promised is slipping away.
Who are the local retailers selling them?

Thanks.

If I was you I would parallel import them yourself, use Youshop and buy from Bestbuy or Amazon or microsoftstore.com

PB Tech here in NZ will parallel import them for you too

I'm not sure why anyone told you early 2014 availability sorry, as that is not correct.

Ahhh ok good to know. You wouldn't happen to know approx how much to ship one over do you?
Noel Leeming were saying mid-Feb but I now can't find any surface pro 2 at all on their website either. You also mentioned early 2014 back in October http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=45&topicid=130682&page_no=5#909730.

I'm guessing supply issues are causing delays here.

It's crazy how short the supply is for the pro2 256gb. I thought it would have been one of the more popular ones.

I've been trying to get my hands on one since November. Although, slightly glad I wasn't able to then because of the intel i5 upgrade!

I've sold about 30 256GB just this month into NZ Commercial customers, so they are around

couldn't tell you which i5, the difference is negligible

US$199 so say NZ$275 shipped through something like Youshop

Yeah it looks like they are trickling in. - It just seems like it doesn't really go through to retail evenly. A big part is probably the retailer themselves though, maybe a bad order management system or something. Sure I'll get there though :)

Amazon would also be an option for the dock with freeshipping to NZ for ~$260

That would be a good option but I don't think Amazon will ship it directly.
