Hi All,

I am desperately trying to find a replacement for an Acer Iconia W511P that has been misplaced.

The issue I am having is that there seems to be very few 3G or 4G options now.

Unfortunately that is the deal breaker for the boss.

Needs to be Windows 8, full version
3G or 4G
Battery life of over 10 hours
Keyboard dock with touch pad
Touch screen

If I could get a W511 I would, but they are not available anymore, however one with a slightly faster processor would be good too!

Please post up anything you know of available in NZ.

As you've discovered, there's not much available with a built-in 3G/4G.

The pricey Lenovo Helix could be an option.  Nathan (Microsoft NZ devices guy) might know more models becoming available in NZ soon..

given your requirements I'd recommend the HP ElitePad 1000G2

Available on April 1

BayTrail 64bit ATOM, 4G of RAM, 128GB, 4G LTE
Available with a dock and a productivity jacket which give it a physical keyboard

if you email me I'm happy to put you in touch with HP

Lenovo will have a similar device in a few months

Dell have their Venue Pro 11 which is Core i5 Intel, available with 4G and a keyboard case/dock

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for your reply, I am looking into the Elite Pad as this seems like a reasonable option my hardware supplier is getting pricing etc., in the mean time I have found a W511 and purchased that, but I definitely need an option for the next round.

For the BayTrail chip, how does this compare to the older Atom chip like the Atom CPU Z2760 that is in the acer, I have always felt that this was holding the W511 back.

With the BayTrail machine above does it have a touch pad to use like a mouse? We use Qlikview extensively and it isn't great with touch screen, you need a touch pad to use it efficiently.

BayTrail is about twice as fast as CloverTrail

CherryTrail will be out late this year

The ElitePad Productivity Jacket doesn't have a touchpad, you'll need a stylus or a mouse
