Here goes....
Desktop runs XP home and has a printer connected by USB
Laptop runs Vista Bus ad connects to desktop via WiFi

I want to share the usb printer but everytime I try to connect to it on the laptop it comes up "access denied"

I can see it OK but no can talk

ideas anyone?

Are you using a username and password to login to your Windows XP Home? If yes, it would help to have the same username and password on your laptop - it is also valid for shared folders and drives.

Another thing is to right-click the printer and check that "EVERYONE" has got the "Printing" box checked.

no I'm not using a secure login

Another thing is to right-click the printer and check that "EVERYONE" has got the "Printing" box checked.

right clicking the approportiate print on the xp machine and yes, sharing is checked but there is no option to click "everyone" in the xp dialogue box
