I have have the notification for over a month and still hasn't downloaded windows 10.

So now I have reinstalled windows 7 and have done all the updates (painful process) now I want to get windows 10 installed before I install anything else to make an image for future reinstallation.

Is there anyway to make this move along?

I just went to the regular updates window, clicked to check for updates, and there it was.

Yup, this was pretty much my experience on 2 of our computers - icon was there and opted in for ages and nothing seemed to happen.  Went into the desktop windows update, checked for updates, and there it was.

I assume if you've been waiting that long you're totally unaware of the simple direct download option?

My problem is the opposite - I've upgraded most of my PCs from Win 7 to Win 10 (without any major problems), but I want to keep Win 7 on one box - a HTPC.
Whenever I try to update Win 7, MS keeps offering me the Win 10 upgrade - which I have to actively refuse.
I have NOT "reserved" Win 10 for this PC.

This! I had a little netbook running Win7 Starter that wouldn't even bring up the Win10 icon because it was being erroneously detected as Win7 Enterprise by the update checker. I downloaded the tool at the supplied link, burned the iso to a DVD, and it ran like a charm.
