Ever since I was a test user of W10, W10 has deemed to change various settings but most frustratingly, randomly, my sound output device changes to one of my non speakered HDMI or DP Monitors. I want to scream right now.

I want to break the FUG so badly right now and eviscerate MS and their arrogance.

Never messes with mine..

Even when i unplug my main sound source and plug it back in, Windows defaults back to where it should

This isn't as annoying as booting into Windows and having it replace my bootloader forcing me to reinstall Grub again to boot back into Linux. Or the fact Windows wakes your computer to do updates at an ungodly hour of the night (even though I've set the times it should do this).

I've got a flash drive on my desk with "F*** WINDOWS" written on it that boots into a minimal Debian environment to put back my bootloader. Honestly, I'm done with Windows and if it wasn't for a few games I would have gotten rid of it eons ago.

I have found that the audio devices on my nvidia card will reenable with driver changes or frequently the feature updates. I never unplug the 4.1 speakers from the computer, dont even have the front headers connected, and still find that it will occasionally decide the enabled without me doing it HDMI audio to the TV I use as a 4th monitor is inexplicably getting all the sound instead of the desktop speakers when I power it on.

And Win10 will then just re-enable it and change the default on next startup or when HDMI device is next powered on (on some systems)
Its an real issue , Ive yet to find a 'fix' for it.

I run into the same issue with my lounge win10 htpc/gaming pc. Despite me only ever setting the digital SPDIF out as default, it will relatively frequently (but not consistently) decide that the TV HDMI output is a new device and make that the default audio-out instead. Disabling that audio output when I change it back isn't a solution as this of course isn't remembered when the TV once again becomes a "new device".

Random changing of defaults (including the frequent reverting of the default browser/video/music apps to Microsoft's apps whenever there's an update) is one of the more obvious Windows 10 annoyances.

I would say mine can happen without a reboot or anything. I remote into my PC and sometimes after that it changes as well!

A friend of mine has the same problem. It's become almost a recurring joke with him; "oh look, another Nvidia update; time to reconfigure all my sound settings again".

I haven't had it blow away my bootloader, but I have had it dig around in my UEFI settings and change itself to the first boot device on multiple occasions. This is a "50/50" annoyance; I'm 50% frustrated with Microsoft for that arrogance, and 50% frustrated with Asus for letting software mess with user settings in the first place.

i had a shocker with it when i changed tablet, new dock at work and using two different types of headphones it got really confused.

Seems stable now once everything was removed and added one by one
