Alright, I have a peculiar problem that hopefully has a simple, overlooked solution.

I, backwards to most posts I have found on various sites, have immense trouble loading websites (on both IE7 and Firefox. Yes, I?ve tried reinstalling) but I have really low (in the 100ms range) ping when playing an online game. I'm hooked directly into a high speed cable modem. It will load the header, such as ?Welcome to facebook!?, but the screen will remain white for over 10 minutes. If I refresh multiple times, I may get part of the page.

Whenever I look at my internet traffic (a percentage of how much bandwidth my computer is using vs. it?s maximum), it spikes up whenever I click on a website, but then drops to 0% if it doesn?t load a page, which is quite frequent.

I don?t know if this will help, but when I ping my IP address, I get ?Request timed out? error, which I understand isn?t necessarily a bad thing.

When I ping my default gateway, I get around 20ms ping time.

When I ping www.facebook.com, I get ?Request timed out?.

Once again, the weird thing about this, for me anyways, is that I can run an online game with no lag and great ping, but both web browsers can?t load certain pages.

There's not much information in your post to help anyone help you. What kind of connection? Speed on your plan?

Are you usingantivirus? Some have an option to scan pages and other web elements as they are downloads - perhaps this is slowing down your PC? Check your antivirus options for this.

When was the last time you run a full system antivirus scan and antispyware scan?

Do you have toolbars and other add-ins loaded?

So many questions, so little answers...

Sorry about that, I feel a bit embarassed :-p

I'm on Suddenlink high speed internet, according to PCPitstop i get ~1200kbps down and ~500kbps up with a 54ms ping. I have am using norton antivirus, but this problem has started years after I started using that. I used Uniblue Speedupmypc3 and SpyEraser to try to alleviate the problem, but they didn't. the last full system scan i ran was yesterday (a day before this post), it found a few low level threats that were eliminated through safe mode, but afterwards, no change.

No toolbars or add-ins for either firefox or IE7.
