Hi ya all, I have a hyper-V windows 10 Pro VM that shows me the log on screen fine. But once I enter password and log on, it goes to a black screen.

Anyone has any ideas what might be going on?

Some clues - it has been telling me my perfectly legit and activated win 10 licence is not activated, that has been about a year and I did not bother to call MS to sort it out as it was working fine

Also any ways to reset the thing from the VM, like you can by pressing say F8 on a real machine.

I doubt there's much to be done but thought I'd check.

GPU drivers have been updated, but it shows log on screen, just goes black after logging on.

thanks, behaviour does not alter with or without enhanced session mode

also note that I know it is running because I can access all the files from my windows networking! but RDP doesn't connect.

probably something to do with the lack of activation ...

Yeah are you direct on the machine or RDP, if direct what happens with a Windows key, or tab

direct on machine. can't RDP to it, it won't RDP. no response to any key or mouse click. CTL ALT DEL applies on the main machine not on the VM.

I thought that too, but didn't work, searched the internet, did what they suggested, also nothing. I will try to load the initial backup of the VM and see ...

Thanks anyway.
