HOW do I change the speed for key repetition when a key is held down? Its set to slow as @#$% for some reason. Why the hell would this be default as its unusable for gaming. This is a Dell Alienware 15 R4 laptop. Under Advanced Keyboard settings it says "Some settings are hidden or managed by your organization" whatever that means...

"Some settings are hidden or managed by your organization"  Is this a company laptop? All our work computers have this.

No. Bought direct from Dell website. Another Win10 machine I bought from a company here also has this. So far it feels like Windows 10 is really dumbed down, sort of ''appleized"... like they are trying to hide advanced settings which might scare people. goddam annoying.

OK fixed - its in the control panel, which has stuff not found in Settings. Yeah talk about a pointless misdirect...

The "Managed by your organisation" appears if you use your laptop with a Standard account instead of an Administrator account (which is how it should be anyway, for security reasons).

Yes, the Keyboard control is in Control Panel.

How does making it an Administrative account make it less secure? Assuming no-one else will be using the laptop.

From the Keyboard Control Pnale applet:

Very often, this happens because of Group Policies managed by the company. You can set the local policy or modify the registry directly to achieve the same result. Others seem to think it might be related to a Telemetry setting.

Any program running will run with the account rights. If a program or downloadable executable is run without you knowing, then it will do whatever it wants to your machine. I always use a local account with Administrator rights for management and use my Windows account as Standard user for day to day.

This^^^

Even Win XP has quite good security if you run as a limited privilege user. (at least it did when Microsoft were still providing security patches for it).

thats another Win10 1803 bug (or feature as MS would call it )
Its NOTHING to do with group policies or admin rights .
You'll see the same message in Winupdates settings page

Try changing the "Diagnostic" setting to full (from basic) to get rid of that message . (I havnt tried that but supposedly fixes that message in updates)

The Brand new Win10 PC Im setting up now has the same message.
BUG , not setting  :-)

NOT FIXED - I've found a Win 10 bug. It resets every time you start windows. Even though the sliders in Keyboard Properties don't reset, the actual repeat rates do. You have to change the sliders and hit apply every time you start windows.

This bug is easy to reproduce testing in notepad.
