A friend wanted to change the Office/Word 2010 font permanently from Calibri to Arial. Just a 5 minute job I thought.
But I can't find Normal.dotm

When in Word, expanded font ribbon, changed font, selected Set as default, all documants based on Normal.dotm, OK.
Restarted Word... font still Calibri.

Had a look in:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates - Normal.dotm not found.

Set Windows Explorer - File name Extensions and Hidden Items ticked.

Did a search on the whole C:\ drive.... Normal.dotm not found.

My friend had been trying to change the font several times before so maybe has messed with the computer config.

The computer - HP Compaq Pro 4300 - seems to be running ok. I don't know if Office 2010 is part of the factory restore.

I have visions of the fix taking several hours.... I am not sure of the links between Office/Word 2010 and Windows 10.

Options I can think of to try:
Run Ccleaner and and fix the registry.
Run Windows 10 re-install keeping personal settings and files.
Backup system and personal files with Macrium Reflect - Do a factory restore and update Windows 10 and Office.
Put personal files back.
Test.. test...test...

Looking forward to any help.... What have I missed?... Hope the solution is simple!

Frustrating... time for a beer :-)

Go to File/Options/Advanced/File Locations (near the bottom) and see what "User templates" is set to. Hopefully your Normal file is in there.

Failing that, press Alt-F11 to open VBA and see whether you have a Normal project in the list on the left. If not, then perhaps you don't have a Normal template at all, for some reason.
