I have a MSDisplay Adaptor which I had running on my Dell Inspiron 14Z with Windows 7. Last weekend I upgraded to Windows 10. Since then I haven't been able to get the display adaptor to work properly.

I can add it as a device.

I can connect to it.

The screen connected to the display adaptor says connecting then it goes blank. The notification ribbon on the laptop tells me it's connected and there is the black ribbon at the top of the screen also saying connected. I hear a message tone which I assume means the laptop is telling me something has happened i.e connected to the display adaptor.

About 30 seconds later the screen connected to the display adaptor returns to the display adaptor page saying "Ready to connect" and there is another message tone from the laptop, I assume to say the display has been disconnected. The ribbon display at the top of the laptop screen says disconnected with an option to reconnect.

I've tried the display adaptor with another laptop and it works correctly.

I have updated the display adaptor firmware.

I have gone onto the Intel site and checked for updates for the laptop drivers, there was one for the Graphics card which I installed. This made no difference.

When I do a "dxdiag" it says Miracast is "Available with HCDP"

Nothing I can find by searching on line has been of any help.

Any ideas?

Any ideas anybody.

Also have problems getting W10 to remember the password for our NAS. After each restart it keeps asking for the password even though the Remember option is ticked.

What is a "MSDisplay Adaptor"? Is that the WiDi device?

I did try the microsoft widi (https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/products/adapters/wireless-display-adapter-2/p3q-00001) on my lenovo x1 windows 10, and it kind of worked , but was too laggy on video so I returned it .

It sounds like you have done the obvious things to fix this. It seems to me that it is more likely to be a software issue still as WiDI does work with windows 10. Maybe you should try a fresh install of win10? That sucks as a solution but this has been my solution once or twice in the past with really strange video problems.

Upgrade install.

The display adaptor is a WiDi device. It's also known as a Micracast device, it can be used to cast from a tablet as well or any device supporting Miracast

Correct WiDi doesn't work with Win 10. WiDi being an Intel product is now unsupported. I used WiDi with Win 7 and the display adaptor worked nicely. I didn't try video, my main use was to project Power Point and the like.

I'd rather not have to go down the fresh install route. I guess that means creating an ISO image and formatting the hard drive.
