My IE 8 is constantly coming up with not repsonding and I am then having to close it and restore it again. So often I about ready to chuck my laptop out of a window.

I have Vista Home Premium

And when was the last time you ran a full antivirus and antispyware scan?

Is your system fully updated with the latest patches?

Does it happen when loading Flash? Do you have the latest Flash 10 installed?

Latest patches (basically) = all Microsoft/Windows updates applicable are installed. (Happens automatically if the Windows Security centre is set to do so.)

What type af AV do you use? What Antispyware (if any) is used for scans?

Is there a particular circumstance (eg: 5+ tabs open) or site this happens more often, or does it appear to be completely random?

Oh God, what've I done to it now??

Hi Spuddy,

If you still have the problem, I suggest you trying the following:
1) (in the administrator's command prompt) regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
2) restart the computer.

Cheers,
VEB.

maybe it is a corrupt add-on... as freitasm says... it could be flash 10 as that has just come out, and may not be compatible with IE8 yet ,you should be able to go to adobe and see on the get flash page, what flash version you have... or if that fails go to youtube, and load a video up, and in the video box, right click and it will have a flash menu, and it will tell you what version, either 9 or 10.

Then again, have you tried uninstalling IE 8 and reinstalling?

Or, you could get another browser, such as firefox.

Use Google Chrome or Apple Safari. They're nice and much much faster than Internet Explorer 8. They're also really easy to get the hang of!

Start IE with no add-ons.

iexplore.exe -extoff
