Hi

I have just today purchaced a brand new HP laptop. Set up was all complete, used it for about 30 minutes or so..
Shut down..
Later on logged on, or should i say tried to logon, and got this messge "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded".

What the hell is this!?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Ps. I got 2/3 into 'recovery disc' creating, and on the 3rd disc it came up with the message that something went wrong with it, and to try to enter another disc, which we didn't have, so i just shut it down. If that had anything to do with why i cant logon.

Not likely.

Normally you can do a recovery from the HDD partition, ie no need for the discs, usually pressing something like F8 will give you a list of options, one would be to restore your laptop to factory settings. You will lose everything you have done, which sounds like not much at all.

oldie but a goodie, use to get that error a lot at my last job... if you follow the instructions at th below link should be a no brainer to fix.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/130095-user-profile-service-failed-logon-user-profile-cannot-loade...

The link is for Vista but has worked on 7 with no problems for me.

As suggested above if you havent been using the computer that long might as well start a fresh.

Ah, cheers guys. One of the options was to delete it, which i think i will go for. Luckily i made my partner an account as an administrator too :)

Cheers!

Now, i have another issue with this new laptop i hope one of you guys can help me with..

When starting up, it automatically does a disk check. There is also an option to stop it, but if i do that, it logs me into a temporary account when i log onto mine. Then the next time i start up, it comes up again.
Frustrating much!

strange. Sounds like your user profile is bad, or the disk is bad (bad clusters where the user profile sits). Can you get in and schedule a full CheckDisk? Your disk is being flagged as dirty, which windows checks on bootup to do the disk check.

I'd say going by the two errors you have that there will be bad sectors on the HDD. If it does comes back with this then I'd advise getting the HDD replaced.

http://www.hdtune.com/files/hdtune_255.exe will be able to show you the SMART status on the drive under the health tab.
