Hey all,

I have a VLited version of Windows 7 Professional (x86) installed on an 8GB SSD with room to spare (once compressed and hibernate removed) and it works brilliantly with one exception.

The idiot that was momentarily me accidentally removed the sidebar, all the links are around, but none of the data and code.

Does anyone know what files i need to copy and paste from one PC to this one? I copiedall the program file data but it didn't work.

Im using google desktop at the moment, but its clunky, so if someone wants this challenge then please reply!

Cheers all,

Chris

PS - Will not reinstall, its not that important

Have you reenabled it through the Control Panel | Programs and Features | Windows Features applet?

http://www.win2008r2workstation.com/win2008r2/sidebar has an article on how to steal all the files from Windows 7 and get gadgets working in Windows Server 2008 R2..... that should get you sorted again.

Posted on Win7 Forums for help as well
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7desktop/thread/a4cffa6d-aea3-491b-b14f-b83d16d06c...

Hello all,

Windows 7 Professional (x86)

Gadgets are installed, but do not load properly. I cannot add gadgets, and when i manually add them (make zip etc) they do not appear in the options.

Pre installed gadgets do not appear on desktop, clock is a black square with one red hand that doesnt more, CPU is too text boxes and weather shows a blue circle with a white "i" in it.

Tried re-registering the dll's as suggested here

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistaprograms/thread/c6985b63-1b4f-40c4-8dc3-8297be...

Also copied working files from another windows 7 PC. Also tried removing the windows gadget platform (via control panel) but it returns an error and does not successfully complete.

Still no luck
