Ok PC running

Windows vista sp2
IE8

when you load the hotmail page and click on a message it fails to load the bar that has the buttons.

"Reply, Replay all, foward, and the up/down arrows" part
the mouse pointer shows but have the little circle icon as if its loading. the part shows it loading.

If you hit the refresh button on the IE8 the bar comes back (most of the time) but when you click on a new message same thing happens again

things i have tried

Full virus clean out
java reinstall
Silverlight reinstall
Clearing the history temp files etc, also used ccleaner and removed all files including last 48hours
setting all IE options back to defualt
adding hotmail to the trusted sites
set compatiblity mode in IE8
tried it in safe mode still not working
I know its no the hotmail account because the hotmail account works good on another computer

things i have not tried yet,
reinstalling IE8

I think it may have somthing to do with compatiblity mode getting stuck, i have had problems in the past with compatiblity mode, with book marks somtimes if you set all websites to compatiblity mode your book marks arnt displayed in this mode and you have to recreate the bookmark.
Im thinking maybe hotmail got realy stuck?

any thoughts on this? thanks for you help

What is your ISP? It could be a problem with their transparent proxy. Or a temporary route problem.

I doubt its an ISP problem. ISP is xtra, all other pc's we have dont have this issue thanks.

I could be a stuck proxy or somthing i know that can happen from time to time in vista, but never come accross it my self. proxy in IE8 show none.

Not a proxy on your PC, but a transparent proxy (cache) on the ISP side. Which plan are you on Xtra?

ya i understand proxy on ISP side, Sorry i dont know plan. We have tried it on xnet and xtra and both have the same problem

Again, i dont think its an ISP issue as all other pc's work with no problem and we have tried it on two differnt ISP's thanks

i do think its a problem with the comptuer but not sure where abouts.

Antivirus installed? Antispyware? Firewall software? Any new software installed? Ran a full AV scan lately? More information is better than none.

I clean viruses out for a living, this was just a computer i got stumped on at the end of the day today. was hoping sombody could help.

I am the second tech to look at it so its been through that process twice. the first tech did find alot of fakeware and removed it, i found nothing apart from one bogus entry in addremove programs that would not remove easily but i got rid of that.

I wil battle on with it but was hoping sombody here new exactly what the problem is as we are very busy, saves the process of elmination any thouhts are welcom

so yea laptop is clean.

Only thing i can see left is reinstall IE8, thats my first job tomorow.

im going to answer two in one here

you can wait 20mins and the part with the reply button in it wont load. Just seems strange as soon as you hit the refresh button the part with the reply button loads and the loading icon on the cursor goes away.

I have not taken note if it says loaded with error or anything, my day was very broken so i will check on that tomrrow.

as for the browser, have not tried another one, i guess that would proove if it was IE or another problem, will try that also thanks

hi guys just an update.

tested with firefox and maxthon + google chrome (I hate chrome but it was already installed) same problem .

Point of last call decided to format.

no luck

fresh windows vista basic with no other software installed still the same deal the reply part does not load after moving through several emails. it seems to load the first time but when you look at 5 emails or so it happens again.

I suspected ram = no fresh stick of ram did not fix.

updated java didnot fix

things i will try tomrow

im going to put the hard drive into a differnt laptop, see if that fixes it also will try a usb to ethernet adapter to see if its the network card.

mmmm starting to hack me off now. i know its not the connection because we have 3 other computers that work fine.

Long story short. flashed the bios and fixed the problem, even though the bios update did not state that it would fix the problem.

Im picking the bios had become corrupt some how and the cpu caching was screwing up. ither way it fixed it.
