Hey guys, looking for some help with a frustrating problem.
Heres the background..
We have three machines at home,
1. My trusty old uni laptop running XP SP3
2. Desktop running Vista SP2
3. New laptop running Windows 7
I am trying to connect them all over our wireless so they can share files etc. I think i have got all the settings right however the problem is between XP and Vista.
The Vista machine can access the XP shared folder etc and everything seems to be fine there.
However when im on the XP laptop and try to access the Vista machine, it comes up with a message with something along the lines of...
"Access denied, you may not have permissions, please contact administrator. The network path was not found"
On the Vista network map, the XP machine is down the bottom under a heading "The following devices can not be placed in the map"
I have researched alot into this and cant find any answers. I tried installing the LTTD fix, however since XP is running SP3 it did not install and said it was unneccessary.
The WORKGROUP name is consistent throughout all machines.
The settings on the Vista machine is set to network discovery on, file sharing on, public folder sharing on, media sharing on, password protected sharing off, printer sharing off.
I went into Advanced sharing and had a look and the permissions are set to Everyone.
I have no idea what is wrong.
If anyone could provide any insight or a fix, it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
