Whenever I insert a blank cd/dvd into the drive, Win7 tells me I have a file waiting to be written to the drive, desktop ini.
When I look at the file with Notepad i see this...

 [.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21815

Also, whenever I insert a USB drive or a SC card, a zero-byte file, autorun.inf is written to the device.

I am running Avira and it reports no virii and I also did a scan with an online virus detector with no result.

Is this normal, am I paranoid?

Thanks.

 I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

They are random system files, containing icon settings and stuff for the folder. They appear on my desktop from time to time, where I just bin them. Doesn't seem to do any damage binning them
