Afternoon,

I tired tech support on Trademe but they just didn't bother getting back to me after the first email reply.

I use Google Chrome on Win7 x64 with XMarks, LastPass and AdBlock addons. The following problem has been experienced with all addons enabled, disabled, uninstalled and a virgin chrome install.

When I hit load the Trademe URL it sometimes doesn't load and when it does load most of the time it refreshes itself almost immediately.

Anyone got any idea wtf is going on?

EDIT: Further information

Does not occur with Firefox so it's a Chrome issue

Tried with other ISPs (if it's a laptop)?

What ISP?

i too have this issue. thought it was something on my end. Using TC, windows 7 x64, latest stable build of chrome. adblock (have tried disabling it) when i hit my trade me link, most times i get a blank page, hit it again, yea it works, also getting time out connections lately. from now on i use IE when i need to access TM no issues. Could it be the way chrome renders the page?

I'm on Snap and I can confirm that loading the page via WiFi and Windows Phone 7 is fine. Also Firefox on the exact same PC runs fine.

I seem to remember Chromium having similar issues on Ubuntu.

Having similar issues, new notebook with Win 7 64bit, virgin chrome, no addons and standard windows firewall. Often Trademe loads stall or fail, and sometimes its get stuck on "loading proxy..."

I have the same problem with Chrome and a Telecom ADSL connection.

The page never ever ever ever loads the first time, I just get a blank page, when I refresh the page appears as normal.  It's only the first time I access TradeMe, links within the trademe website load first time.  Links from TradeMe emails never load first time and I have to refresh.

I've this issue too.

I find if I press F12 for a moment to bring up the developer console, then F12 again to close the dev console, the page finally loads. Very weird.

(and not sure if this makes a difference, but I have the dev console embedded into the window as a frame, not as a pop-up standalone window)

My Chrome keeps having it's shockwave plugin crash on TM almost every time I open it. Vodafone, Win7 32bit laptop, which to me points to their ads causing a problem.

Do you get the problem if you open a new Chrome window, then open the dev tools (F12) and then go to trademe?

In the dev tools, click on the network tab at the top, documents tab at the bottom then click on the page in the main part of the window to see details of the http request.

Lol

"<!-- If you're looking at our HTML source, you're exactly the person who should send us your resume.View current vacancies at http://trademe.co.nz/careers -->"

It didn't load any head or body when I did that (white page). I'm afraid I do not know what to look for in terms of the HTTP request results. The response page had exactly what I'd expect to see from a correct Trademe homepage load.

Timing

DNS Lookup: 190 ms
Connecting: -54ms
Sending: 0
Waiting: 115ms
Recieving: 249 ms

That seems about fine for such a heavily loaded page load

I'll let you know... but I don't seem to be able to reproduce this issue today, heh. All the pages are working for me right now, such a shame!

One thing to try ruling out too, is to browse in incognito mode to see if any extensions are interfering, and also to disable JavaScript to try and narrow the problem down.

Incognito worked perfectly but it could just be behaving itself right now.

Alright so I reinstalled Chrome and systematically re-introduced my plugins and it started tweaking out when I enabled LastPass. However now when I disable LastPass the problem stops which it didn't before, there must have been some issue disabling it in my previous installs.

However now I want to know why it tweaks out on a password saving plugin because that plugin is crucial to me. I could use Chrome sync but LastPass is multi-browser and some PC's I use don't have Chrome and it can't be installed.

I have the exact the same thing and its definitely Adblock causing it for me.

Its very consistent.  Clear cache + Adblock enabled = blank screen on first load every time.
No such problem with Adblock disabled.

Hmmmm, I think I might have adblock too, I'll check tonight.
