I've had some moments of 'weirdness' with Windows Live Messenger (8.0.0812.00), since upgrading from RC1 to RC2.

On startup, it is generating the error message "Messenger has stopped working", with the option to Close Program.

Is anyone else experiencing this or other minor bugs?

By some minor miracle, Windows Live Messenger has come right.

I've also installed Windows Mobile Device Center Beta 3 and all is well there.

You have to commend Microsoft for the inclusion of features like Windows Vista Demos and Windows Basics. Hopefully, the average Joe Bloggs will take time to view these demos and read the documentation.

Messenger has some weird quirks on all OSs.
We had a person in #Geekzone the other day who had their computers clock set back to the 1600s and MSN wouldn't work... I guess in Instant Messaging time does matter

Nearly 3:00 am, can't sleep, so I'm on here...

I've setup a Bluetooth partnership between my Windows Mobile 2003 device and Windows Vista, however, the WM2003 device doesn't recognise the Bluetooth Serial (COM) service on Vista, it recognises a Personal Ad-Hoc User service(?!?)

Any suggestions?

Have you installed the mobility center? or whatever its called.

The Vista bluetooth stack is somewhat limited compared with the WIDCOMM one and there are no Vista drivers for that yet. But I'm sure its supports COM.

Reinstall or repair the Windows Live Messenger product

There is a known issue with WLM during an upgrade from RC1

Reinstalled the WIDCOMM Bluetooth software for HP.
Serial (COM) port discovered correctly.

Unfortunately, this particular version doesn't recognise ActiveSync in its new form (i.e. Windows Mobile Device Centre) So I guess, I'll have to sync via USB only.

What's wrong with XP. Vista (Espesially in its beta and almost release stages) has so many annoying things and glitches.

Really? In the latest builds I've used, 5536, 5600-RC1, 5728 and 5744-RC2 I have only found one glitch, WLM manages to kill the green icon for Contacts and replace it with a boring yellow one. Thats it.Each one of those builds I've had installed on my 2 PCs, my laptop and my work PC.

From where I stand Vista is very ready for release and is 100 times better than XP. Why use XP when even the pre release Vista builds out perform it?

Nope. Except for programs that are not ready to use it yet, or manufacturers that hold on to old drivers and don't release new ones. Other than this it's working well.

"Sound glitches". Did he download the latest driver for this hardware? Did he run Windows Update to see if there are updated drivers? Did he visit the manufacturer's web site looking for drivers?

Drivers, drivers, drivers.

Ok, Let me rephrase that. When he plays music through any program. Also that round button to open the start menu. That really sucks
