I've installed WHS 2011 on Hyper-V. I had to change the network adapter to Legacy as the normal virtual adapter was not recognised by WHS and caused it to hang at the post install configuration screen. Now that I have it operational does anyone know what problems I could encounter with the Legacy adapter?

I currently have one vPROC (8 in total) allocated, would more provide any advantages?

The legacy adapter only provides 10/100. I added a regular adapter (along with the legacy adapter), WHS was able to use the legacy adapter connection to lookup the drivers for the regular Hyper-V virtual adapter, once that was complete I shut down WHS, removed the legacy, leaving only the regular adapter (I shifted the Leagacy MAC to the new adapter as I had a reserver ID).

I increased the vProcs to 2 for transcoding, but this struggled, increased again to 4 vProc (the maximum allowed) and now the transcoding is smooth.

are you talking about Hyper-V "Legacy Network Adapter" vs "Network Adapter"
