Split book will be a bunch more expensive though I imagine, and it isn't out yet, far better suited to being someones primary laptop though.

ive had mine for a couple of weeks (dse had 20% sale so i grabbed one). really love it. love windows 8 on a tablet, desktop there are things i love and hate, but on a tablet its the best OS ive used (owned an ipad and i have an android tablet as well).

the envy x2 runs well, battery lasts long, turns on quick, not one compliant about it. its weighted well so ut doesn't fall backwards onto the screen when you're using it (my transformer pad use to do this).

I want to add a micro SD card to my X2 (the tablet part).

Can someone tell me whether, for this application, I need a fast one?
What class micro SD would be sufficient?

Not 100% sure on this as I haven't tested myself, but other uses have tested various MicroSD cards and found the max read is 23MBps, which indicates the card reader speed is class-10, so look for a MicroSD card that supports 30-45MBps (Sandisk Brand is the easiest to find).

You will find other cards that support Class-10, but I'm pretty sure the class-10 standard only indicates that it can do UP TO 23MBps, not a minimum of 23MBps.

It's likely compatible with microSDHC, microSDXC 64GB cards but will need to be formatted as exFAT or NTFS as regular FAT won't play nice.

If I get a microSDXC 64 Gig card, would I be able to format it (exFAT or NTFS) on the Envy X2 or would it not even be able to do that?
If not, how would I go about formatting it to one of those standards?

Yea you can format it using disk management on the desktop.

The Envy x2 runs regular Windows so just google for a tutorial how to format disks in Windows.

This, apparently simple question (whether I can use a 64Gb microSDXC card in my new HP Envy X2) seems to have HP support stumped.
There has been no reply on their support forum (5 days).
Their telephone support are going to have to get back to me.

Will keep you posted.

They came back with "Well the forums have conflicting information, so we can't say for sure".
Gave me the phone number of an HP accredited supplier in Hamilton where a tech. assured me that a 64 Gb microSDXC will work.
I have ordered one and will post a definitive answer back here when it arrives.
