Microsoft are doing an education special on the RT At 294.00 for the basic model, it is a very good buy in my opinion, considering Office is included.  You can attach a standard
keyboard and mouse through the USB port , Microsoft wedge mouse runs well (Bluetooth).  I find a mouse a good choice when using  Word.  The upgrade to Windows 8.1
went well took a bit of time.

To my knowledge most schools were sent a brochure. Harvey Normans and Noel Leeming have a Commercial manager who deals with the purchase.
You need verification which is sent to Microsoft
Google and I think you will find it.  Contact your administration at your school or instituition

I wonder if the University of Otago has an arrangement, or can you just go into HN and ask for educational discount?

Admittedly I have no interest in an RT, but how does a Windows 8 netbook or ultrabook stack up?

GBristow: As I always ask: what do you want it to do? Write down everything you can think of and check it off against RT. It's clearly better than an iPad, but I wouldn't get one because I would want a full OS on my laptop.

I disagree with this wholeheartedly.

I got an RT as my GF took my Ipad and wont give it back, I thought I'll get her a tablet and saw the RT had come down in price.

I got it, but guess what? I still don't have my Ipad back.

I hate the interface, it isn't real windows but it isn't any better either.

I hate no built in 3 or 4G.

I hate how damn boring it is!
