Klipspringer: 1, 2 and 5 for me
1) I'm opposed to where Windows 8 is heading (the whole tables will rule the world one day, forget everybody else way of thinking)
2) Metro in a workplace? Come on. Is this a joke?
5) I would not say that I am happy. Just happy with the 3rd-party workaround for now. Would much rather not have to rely on a workaround.
MackinNZ: If I have to pick a number I'd say number 3 for me.
I like the improvements that came with 8.1 but I never use the "Start Button", it's the other enhancements I like.
One comment I will make is that Microsoft didn't do enough to educate people about the changes. Imagine buying a new car and finding it had no steering wheel and no pedals. And no-one bothered to give you any instructions on how to drive this new car, you just had to figure it out for yourself. Once you've been instructed however, you're fine.
I've pointed many people at this video and a light bulb has come o for them.
qyiet: I'm mostly in the 3 "happy with win8" camp. But I cant put it into our business yet because something in our domain policy kills all the metro apps as soon as you domain join the machines. It'll be my problem, but I've been too lazy to track it down yet.
nathan: you probably have a GPO disabling UACWe used to, but don't anymore. I'll double check, thanks.
joker97: is there a 6? if not I'll pick 3 (THREE)
firstly i love touchscreen control because i was addicted to my ipad - now if only we had more apps on windows
2ndly i like the ultra high res screen support. the zoomability of super high res screens. however 50% of my programs have words that are microscopic, and 1% just won't work because the interface extends outside the app's window which is not resizable!??!
3rdly you can reinstall windows from within! (although if you have OEM software it won't be a clean install)
to the poster who said there is no backup feature YES THERE IS. go to control panel, files backup, at the bottom left there is option for complete PC backup just like win 7/vista :D - as i said it is 99% win 7 apart from the start menu.
yes of course it's bloated! but hey you need SATA-3 SSD and lots of RAM and away you go :D
nathan: and I see lots of users who love the tiled Metro interface in Windows 8 / 8.1
Designing Windows is like choosing pizza topping for over 1 Billion users, everyone has their preferences

A lot of this is covered in the default built in help for Windows 8.1, that pops up and assists the user, shows them a few gestures when the login for the first time onto 8.1
