oh yes try the "Users" folder - it has all your stuff. things you need and things windows think it needs. just copy it call and then sort through it. there is nothing else you need from the drive.
Yah so I managed to retrieve documents & video's etc from 2 of the lost partitions with a programme called R- Studio so I can clean the offending 1TB WD hdd and use it for storage, thanks for all the help along the way but finnaly got there!
If you've gotten all your data, and you've checked it's all valid, sure. I would personally keep an image of the drive using Macrium Reflect Free if I wasn't sure. That can take heaps of space because if you've done drive recovery you'd need to get each sector not just sectors with files.
I once bought a Seagate Expansion (USB 3 external) that showed in BIOS, and showed in Drive Management, but I was absolutely unable to mount it.
This was the second Expansion drive I'd bought, and the first just worked out of the box. The interesting thing is the problem drive appeared to have been used before (the box seal was broken, and the internal wrapping had been opened). So I took it back to Warehouse Stationary, and the swapped it. I made sure the new one was properly sealed; took it home, and it worked fine out of the box.
So I wondered if a previous buyer of the problem drive, had done something to it.
