freitasm: Now that Edge is available with Windows 10 and I have alternative browsers if needed to, is it safe to turn Internet Explorer 11 off in the Control Panel | Programs | Windows Features list?

Personally, I find the usability [experience] with edge quite poor as compared to IE11.  Things like the vanishing address bar (same colour as background), touch enabled menus (no ability to turn them off) which causes much scrolling of folders),  having to import favourites when updated in IE 11 ( I would have thought it would sync) and constantly setting favourites and folders to alphabetic order rather remembering the order I had set them to.

I have not started looking at RSS feeds yet, so cant really comment on that.

Other than that, it appears to render everything quite nicely, and I have not had to drop back to IE11 (9,8, or 7) modes on anything yet.

all of the things you've described are known and are being worked on.  Edge is an app now, decoupled from the OS so can just be updated from the Store easily

the synch favourites things is by design.  IE and Edge are separate so they don't share anything, including favs or synching anything between each other

Its the touch mode and theme colours ones that are actually the productivity stoppers for me, but I figure that if enough people register feedback, it will eventually get changed.  For the moment, in economic terms, I just substitute to the browser that is easier to use. When Edge becomes easier, I will use that :)

I had been using Chrome as default browser for Netflix (on W7), but on Win10 the difference in streaming video quality between Chrome and Edge is pretty obvious, Chrome limited to 720p.
Last night the video froze a couple of times.  VDSL connection / bandwidth seemed to be keeping up easily - it happened when the buffering indicator on the progress bar was well ahead, video quality had been excellent stutter and artifact-free 1080p quality, then wham - it froze on a single blemish-free frame - but the audio kept playing.  Fixed by nudging the progress bar where it immediately resumed playing apparently flawless 1080p content, but it did the same again a few minutes later. Not sure if this is a glitch.  It may have been a server side glitch at Netflix.
One thing I really do like with Edge is that if maximised to full-screen, you can bring up the windows task-bar without exiting full-screen view by moving the mouse cursor over the bottom of the desktop, then make it disappear again by clicking the screen.

Last night decided to restore IE 11. Either do this to have access to HP ILO for remote access to the Geekzone platform in emergency cases, or install Java to have this functionality in other browsers.

IE 11 is still a much better option than Java.

I seem to remember from somewhere that if the Edge browser cant work in edge mode it falls back on IE11 (this might be only in the enterprise version though).  At the moment I mainly use IE11 simply because I dislike the Edge browser UI themes (and I can never find where to type URLs), maybe in the next release it might get better.

We (the wife and I) found that Edge wouldn't actually attach an attachment when using OWA.  It went through all the correct-looking things; but no actual attachment.

Actually, scratch that - HP ILO works just fine on Edge.
