Okay, first attempt at installing through windows update failed. Froze part way during install, had to reboot. I'm going to try again with almost nothing else running.

We are due for an upgrade soon, which fits in with the routine reformat.
So i'd like to slipstream SP3 into an XP home SP1 disk. I assume nlite will work for this?

edit: 2nd attempt appears to have worked fine, and as you'd expect, nothing noticable.

If you want to slipstream it (for easier future reinstalls) I think you'll have to download it, save it to a folder.
That's how I just installed SP3, and it was pretty painless, and everything works. Quite happy.

Oh God, what've I done to it now??

My near-new Dell PC (details below) started acting weird.  Browser wouldn't open websites, or very ferw.  Got the pop-up to send error report to Microsoft, came back informing me to run updates, which informed me to install XP SP3...

Now I can't get my USB wireless adaptor to connect to my wi-fi network at home...

I attempted to re-install the drivers for this device with no joy.

Any ideas???

Any ideas?
Yep.
Start a new thread with this problem. Although maybe related to sp3 (which can be uninstalled via add/remove programs) your problem started prior to that.
I suggest, if you do start a new thread, (or elect to continue here) that you post the security software on the Dell.
