I've never voided any warranty by IMMEDIATELY cloning the HDD to an SSD on all my new laptops and swapping onto the SSD.

Imagine buying a car and changing the wheels, then engine blows up and Toyota says AHA WARRANTY VOID.

If possible, I'd clone your HDD onto an SSD and then chucking the SSD in. Most SSDs will fit (they make them mostly the thinner height now)

I have. Ascent and an Asus laptop. It wasn't worth fighting them about it, and they mostly came to the party.

It happens.

I know an Authorised reseller (Laptops) who swapped in a SSD on a new laptop
That actually voided the warranty , when it had to be sent back for warranty. The reseller was less than impressed (and said he would never sell
that brand again)

So yes, some brands use that as an excuse to try & avoid warranties , despite what the CGA says .
Other brands dont care, and will send out warranty parts for the user or IT to replace themselves .

If there is a major hassle just put back the original HDD before making a claim. Obviously if there is damage it is obvious like a screw driver mark on the CPU and CPU is not working vs if the screen gives green ghosts and there are no screwdriver marks, you know what I mean.
