You might want to consider a partition manager app that allows you to manage partitions using a GUI and a range of management options.  Partition Wizard (partitionwizard.com) is one such tool - free for non-commercial use.  For those of us with occasional exposure to partition management issues this is a great tool.

In your case you can expand the 24-gig drive partition to use the entire SSD, then try using the 'migrate OS to SSD' function.  I would expect if the SSD space is not enough a warning would be given.

Thank you for the software recommendation.  Hopefully I can do more tweaking with that, as the Windows Disk Management software won't allow me to mess with most of these partitions I have.

Hi OldGeek,

I used this software last night, and it worked really well.  Very easy to use.  I merged almost all the partitions I had, so I now have one 24GB SSD drive, and one 700GB drive (which still has the OS on).  The 300mb 'SYSTEM' partition gave me a warning if I merged it with C:\, so I just left that one alone just in case something messed up.

I hit Apply and when the computer rebooted it went through all the tasks.. took about an hour.

It has actually sped up the booting process too.. not sure how but its starting up a bit quicker.  Many thanks for this suggestion matey!

I think you should probably go with the manufacturers suggestions.

Can't go back to Windows 8 now that i've removed the recovery/restore partition :)  Seems to be running quite smooth now...  very surprised that this laptop has a 4GB graphics card.. thats 1gb more than my new 'gaming' laptop, and this thing is quite old i think.
